This is a real tattoo I saw right underneath the back of a woman’s neck while I was out celebrating my birthday this past Friday. Black woman in about her 30’s, on the bus with her young baby daughter, with “New Cool Booty” tattooed under her neck.” It is by far the WEIRDEST tattoo I’ve ever seen. I’ve seen lots of ugly tattoos, lots stupid tattoos, and lots of crazy tattoos, but this is the first time I straight up just did not understand a tattoo at all. New… Cool… Booty… What. Does that MEAN? It’s too absurd to be taken literally, she couldn’t possibly be saying that her booty is new and cool, could she? By the looks of her booty it didn’t look “new”, it wasn’t large or shapely. But even if it was new, who, especially a female who, would describe their booty as “cool” of all words? I have NEVER in my life heard anyone use the word “cool” in reference to someone’s booty. I’ve never been hanging with the gentlemen friends and someone said “Check out that ass right there.” “Damn, that ass is COOL.” Cool Booty I could maybe see as some kind of weird nickname given to her by people who are bad at nicknames, but that doesn’t explain the “New” part. Is there an “Old Cool Booty” out there? Is she the latest in a long line of Cool Booties? Maybe her mom was like “It is time that cool booty be passed down to you, my eldest daughter. Like it was passed down to me by my mother, and her mother before her, and so on. And one day YOUR daughter will be the NEW new cool booty.” I thought maybe some asshole tattoo artist tricked her, but if someone was trying to humiliate her with a tattoo they’d probably just put “whore” or something derogatory, not “new cool booty”, which is more of a weird compliment. I’ve heard lots of theories from my friends, so far none of them make any sense to me. I think it’s just one of those things that’s going to be a mystery forever. New Cool Booty.
